5 Reasons Churches Should Build with SIPs
1. Reduces Monthly Bills
Churches and other religious institutions often find it easier to raise an initial amount that is slightly higher instead of paying higher monthly rates for the life of their church. A common theme in many churches goes a lot like this: “Dear Church Parishioners, The church budget isn’t met for this month. Please give to support your church so we can keep lights on and A/C running.” Wouldn’t it be great if the utilities costs were so much lower that little money was needed for basic operating costs? Even after a mortgage is paid off, utilities can still suck up large amounts of money every month. Avoid this by building with SIPs.
2. Energy Efficiency
Structural Insulated Panels help highly insulate a structure and seal it to prevent outside air infiltration and heat loss through advanced wall systems and a super insulated roof. SIPs walls reduce heating/cooling load and keep indoor temperatures constant. Our panels are stronger, straighter and far more durable than traditional stick framing. They can also provide super insulation even with vaulted ceilings!
3. Quieter Interior, Easy to Soundproof
Structural Insulated Panels are very good for blocking the noise wave lengths of wind, traffic, and other ambient noises that can quite clearly be heard through the walls of a conventionally framed structure, ensuring a quiet worship environment that is undisturbed by external distractions. Additionally, recent testing shows that panels from Premier SIPs (for which Select SIPs East is an authorized sales representative) can be easily used to create soundproofing on interior walls, giving the option to further protect against unwanted noise transmission.
4. Drastically Reduce Construction Time
Prefabricated panels go together easily and quickly. Windows and doors are already cut. The insulation step is basically skipped altogether. Panels are engineered to be perfectly flat so drywall goes up faster, and door and window installers can complete their work easily and quickly. With a conventionally-sized crew, the building can go up in half the time. This speed cuts down on the time a church has to meet in an undesirable or overcrowded location, also possibly saving the cost of renting a temporary facility over a drawn-out conventional construction timeline.
5. Works With Nearly Any Style & Location
Plans don't need to be redrawn or custom designed. You don't even need a SIPs architect.
“Architects can incorporate SIPs into virtually any building design up to four stories tall. Despite being a prefabricated component, SIPs are adaptable to a wide range of architectural styles and perform well in a variety of climates.” --Joe Pasma, Premier SIPs
With minor modifications, Structural Insulated Panels will suit almost any plan. Changes can be made in the shop drawing process, when the plan is pre-engineered to your specific location, the same as a conventional truss supplier would do.
